St Johnstone v Celtic in the Scottish Premiership

The recent postponement of the Scottish Premiership match against Dundee United at Tannadice means that St Johnstone’s fixture with Celtic at Parkhead on Sunday will be their 600th Premier League game.

The previous 599 matches in the various formats of the Premier League dating back to 1975/76 show the following record : –

P           W        D         L           F          A         Pts

599      169      168      262      621      866      618

Saints Premier League record against Celtic is : –

P       W       D      L        F         A

4       0        1        3         4         9        Muirton Park

24       7       4       13       22       36       McDiarmid Park

30       2       3       25      20       79       Celtic Park

58       9       8       41      46     124        Totals

As can be seen Saints have found it difficult to register wins at Celtic Park with the only two successes being by 1 – 0. The first of these came in 1998/99when a Nick Dasovic strike secured the points. More recently Dave Mackay scored the only goal in the early part of the 2011/12 season.

So let’s hope that the 600th match provides a memorable win to celebrate another milestone in the Club’s history .
